The three DIT musicians with the EUYWO conductor Jan Cober

24 July 2013: Three DIT Conservatory students have completed a tour with the European Union Youth Wind Orchestra.

Paul Kiernan (BMus Year 2, trumpet), Shane Kenrick (BMus Year 2, clarinet) and Gavin Brennan (BMus Year 4, saxophone) were selected from hundreds of applications from all European countries.

In addition, David Conway (BMus Year 2, saxophone) was awarded a reserve place with the orchestra.

This year, DIT alone had more representatives in the orchestra than countries such as England, Portugal, Germany and France and others.

The orchestra performed in Luxembourg and the Netherlands as part of a 10 day long tour.

The DIT students said performing with the orchestra was a proud moment for them and they were delighted to be able to represent DIT.
