DIT lecturer and graduates make NNI Journalism Awards Shortlist

31 October 2013: DIT journalism lecturer Kate Shanahan has made the Features Writer of the Year shortlist in the NNI (National Newspapers of Ireland) Journalism Awards 2013.

Kate makes the shortlist for her features in The Herald. She is joined on the shortlist by several DIT journalism graduates including Elaine Loughlin (Daily Mail), Caitlin McBride (Irish Independent) and Eimear Rabbitte (The Herald) who are in the Young Journalist of the Year category.

A number of DIT graduates also feature in the shortlist including Miriam Donohoe, Senan Molony, Philip Nolan, Malachy Clerkin, Simon Carswell, Carl O'Brien, Paul Williams, Miriam Lord and Sunday Times sportswriter Michael Foley.

The awards ceremony takes place on 7 November. Almost 800 entries resulted in 121 nominations in 20 categories on the shortlist.
