DIT MBAs visit Silicon Valley

DIT MBAs outside IDEO

26 November 2013: Students from the DIT MBA programme visited Silicon Valley and the University of San Francisco earlier this month.

The week-long Silicon Valley immersion programme is a core part of the DIT MBA and is of huge benefit to students’ learning and development.

The University of San Francisco delivered lectures and simulations on design thinking, innovation and commercialisation. DIT MBA students and USF MBA students worked in collaborative teams on international business cases.

The MBA students visited Silicon Valley’s leading innovation companies and were briefed on new business models for rapidly changing technology companies. The students travelled off-site to visit the companies and they also had an opportunity to network with executives working in Silicon Valley.

Part of the visit involved developing an Elevator Pitch for a new start up. The students were coached by venture capitalists throughout the week and at the end of the week, they were given the opportunity to present to the panel of investors who evaluated their pitch and gave feedback to the students.
