15 August 2013: DIT will host the second in its series of digital marketing breakfast briefings next Tuesday (20 August).

The seminar, 'Listening before you speak - the value of monitoring and analysing social media', is being organised by the new MSc in Digital Marketing and Analytics at DIT.

Guest speaker Stephen O’Leary, media analyst at Olytico, will talk about how to put social media to work for business and what happens when marketing professionals and brands stop talking and start listening.

The seminar will also focus on analytics and how important it is to measure what’s happening through social media.

Analytics is a key part of the new postgraduate programme at DIT to give participants skills working with big data and so they can learn to leverage customer insights for commercial success.

The analytics sector is growing at 40 per cent per year due to the amount of information accrued through the changing media landscape and is a sector that has been identified as a jobs growth area. Accenture, which created an analytics centre in Ireland to meet the growing IT needs of its clients, announced 140 new jobs this week.

In addition to the briefing, there will be an opportunity to meet key lecturers who are involved in the MSc in Digital Marketing and Analytics, beginning this September. The Masters has been developed by DIT and the Marketing Institute of Ireland.

The breakfast briefing will be delivered over coffee and pastries, starting at 8.30am at DIT Aungier Street on Tuesday, 20 August.

Attendance is free but registration is essential – visit www.dit.ie/digitalmarketing/
