According to David Keogan Hoda’s election is an important milestone in the development of DITSU’s democratic structures as it reflects the Union’s continuing commitment to protecting the rights and entitlements of all of its members. He added: ‘I am very pleased to welcome Hoda to the team and we all look forward to working closely with her as we develop specific policies to address the rights of DIT postgrads and research students. The Postgraduate Role is one of the key initiatives in DITSU’S new Constitution and one which strengthens the representative ethos of the Union. I am very confident that Hoda will make a significant contribution to the development of this new and vital role. Her involvement in the team will ensure that we continue as a truly representative lobbying body for students, both within DIT and nationally’.

In addition to her role within DITSU’s democratic structures Hoda will also sit on a number of key DIT committees including the Graduate Research School Board, the Library Committee and the Academic Quality Assurance Committee to give the post graduate student perspective and opinion.

Commenting on her appointment Hoda said that she is delighted to join the DITSU team; ‘I am really looking forward to working with David and the other officers and staff on some new policy initiatives and also in being a strong voice for postgrad and research students across DIT’. She added: ‘one particular priority is exploring ways in which we can build a sense of ‘community’ within the research students and I have a couple of ideas here that I hope to explore in the coming weeks’

Hoda is currently on 2nd years of her PhD research and previously studied on the BSc Physics Technology in DIT. You can contact Hoda via email postgraduateofficer@ditsu.ie
