Date:                    Tuesday 19th February
Time:                    6.00 - 6.45pm
Location:               Room 2046, Aungier Street

The Department of Law in DIT have organised a public talk by Remy Farrell SC on the European Arrest Warrant. Remy Farrell SC is a leading authority on the European Arrest Warrant being co-author of ‘The European Arrest Warrant’, published by Clarus Press in 2011.

The European Arrest Warrant (EAW) is an arrest warrant valid throughout all member states of the European Union (EU). Once issued, it requires another member state to arrest and transfer a criminal suspect or sentenced person to the issuing state so that the person can be put on trial or complete a detention period. The European Arrest Warrant has been in the news regularly with the high profile Julian Assange decision in the UK Supreme Court and the Ian Bailey decision in the Irish Supreme Court, both in 2012, receiving widespread publicity.

All are welcome to attend the talk which is arranged with the support of the EU’s Lifelong Learning Programme. Light refreshments will be served after the talk from 6.45-7.15pm.
