Government of Ireland/DIT Fiosraigh International Scholar

16th January 2013: DIT welcomes Mr. Rajeev Kumar Mishra who has been awarded the 2012 Government of Ireland - DIT Fiosraigh International Scholarship. Funded by the Irish Higher Education Authority through the Government of Ireland International Scholarships programme, the Scholarship is open to high calibre, postgraduate students in India and provides the opportunity for the recipient to study on a PhD programme at DIT.

Rajeev has arrived in DIT this month and will carry out research on novel hybrid solar systems that can generate both heat and electricity. His work will be supervised by Professor Brian Norton, whose own work in the field of solar energy is renowned internationally. For the next six months Rajeev be based with the Dublin Energy Lab, in the Focas Research Institute at DIT.

The Government of Ireland/DIT Fiosraigh Scholarship programme forms part of the internationalisation strategy of DIT. It aims to highlight Ireland's strengths as a centre of international education and promotes links with countries prioritised by Government policy.

Minister of State at the Department of Education and Skills, Ciaran Cannon TD, travelled to India during the recent Enterprise Ireland Trade Mission. He met and congratulated Rajeev at an event hosted by Mr. Felim McLaughlin, Irish Ambassador to India, and wished him every success in pursuing his research in Ireland.
