Interactive graphic novel created through MSc in Creative Digital Media is ‘App of the Week’

05 December 2013: Little Details, an interactive graphic novel that was created by Msc in Creative Digital Media students, has been named the Irish Times ‘App of the Week’.

The graphic novel for the iPad and other tablet devices combines beautiful artwork and lush sounds. It was created by Hola Mariquita, which is made up of Greg O’Brien, Fabrizio Valerio Covone and Aurora Pérez Machío.

Little Secrets is just one of the apps designed by DIT students that will be on exhibit at next week’s Mobile Moguls - Digital Media Showcase (Wednesday 11 December).

The lunchtime event, organised by DIT Hothouse and EY Entrepreneur Of The Year, will feature some of the latest innovations developed within DIT’s Digital Media Centre including casual games, mobile and tablet apps and creative digital media apps.

An expert panel of entrepreneurs will discuss industry developments and the latest opportunities within the digital media sector. The audience can also get involved through a Q and A session with the panel.

Little Secrets was reviewed by technology writer Ciara O’Brien in the Irish Times (29 November).

She said, “It’s an original story that hooks you in; the interactive graphics are what keeps you hanging around. With 60 pages of fantastic artwork and animations to get through, it isn’t a quick skim.”

She also wrote, “Little Details brings the graphic novel into a whole new arena; it will be interesting to see where this goes next.”

Mobile Moguls takes place from 12 noon to 2.30pm on Wednesday 11 December at the Gleeson Theatre, DIT Kevin Street.

Places are limited so early registration is advised. You can register here.
