DIT Conservatory of Music & Drama is delighted to present A Night at the Opera in the National Concert Hall on Thursday, 23 January, 2014.  Entitled ‘The Paris Collection’ and featuring scenes from  Puccini’s great Opera La Bohème and Lehar’s spell binding The Merry Widow, DIT’s production offers something for everyone – from the soul-stirring power of verismo opera to the sparkle and wit of Viennese operetta.

Featuring DIT Vocal Soloists accompanied by the DIT Symphony Orchestra directed by Jennifer Hamilton and conducted by Killian Farrell, DIT’s production promises an evening of operatic passion, tragedy and romance played out in the boulevards, back-streets and grand salons of Paris.  One of the most romantic operas ever written, Puccini’s masterpiece La Bohème tells of the lives and loves of four struggling artists living in a draughty garret in Paris in the 19th Century.  This classic tale of Parisian love and loss features many famous arias including “Your Tiny Hand is Frozen”, “They call me Mimi” and “Muzetta’s Waltz”.  The Merry Widow, a masterpiece of operetta literature,  offers a comedy about a rich widow, and her countrymen's attempt to keep her money in the principality by finding her the right husband. Well-known music includes the "Vilja Song" and the "Merry Widow Waltz".

Tickets for "A Paris Collection" are priced from €10 and are available from the National Concert Hall t. 01 4170000 or www.nch.ie
