27 February, 2014: DIT School of Media lecturer Dr Kevin Hora today launched a new book on public relations.  Quick Win Public Relations, a practical guide, equips entrepreneurs, managers and not for profit organisations with tools to carry out effective public relations campaigns.

Hora’s first book is the latest edition in the popular ‘Quick Win’ series by Irish business book publisher, Oak Tree Press. Owner, Brian O’Kane, believes that ‘unlike many PR books, which are heavily focussed on the UK or US markets, Quick Win Public Relations addresses topics of interest to SMEs and managers in Ireland.’

The book is divided into five sections, taking the reader from basic practice to advanced PR activities such as crisis communication management and corporate social responsibility (CSR). Containing mini-case studies and helpful hints, the book is written in an accessible, easy to follow style.

The book is available in paperback and online in different electronic formats.

Author, Hora says ‘while aimed at businesses and organisations, students of public relations at all levels will also find the book an invaluable study aid.  Educators, too, will find it a useful quick reference guide.’

Hora has thirteen years experience lecturing in public relations in the further and higher education sectors.  He lectures on the DIT MA in Public Relations and MA in Public Affairs  programmes, and teaches crisis communications management on the MSc in Food Safety Management in DIT.

He is a graduate of DIT’s Master’s degree in public relations, while his doctorate from Trinity College, Dublin examined the role official public relations played in building the modern Irish state.  He is a member of the Public Relations Institute of Ireland (PRII) and the European Public Relations Education and Research Association (EUPRERA).

Quick Win Public Relations is available from all good bookshops and www.oaktreepress.com, price €14.95 (paperback), ISBN 978 -1-78119-122-4.
