DIT Rainbow Week 3rd - 6th February



Every year DIT LGBT Society hosts our biggest event of the year, Rainbow Week. This year it runs from Monday the 3rd of February to Thursday the 6th, a four day event with twelve different events throughout the week across DIT campus.
Its a fun filled, exciting week that everyone can be a part of, seriously there's something for eveyone! 
New and old members are always welcome so don't be afraid to come along! Take a look at out events and see what you can be a part of!!!

Monday 3rd Feb:

9AM Aungier St. Foyer: The Launch of our Marriage Equality Polls!! Come share your opinion and get some free stuff too!!
5-6PM: Talk with Rory O'Neill (Panti Bliss herself!!!) on "Conquering Stereotypes and Exclusion" and the launch of our Time Capsule in the Black Box Aungier St. Campus
7:30PM: Opening Night in Solas Bar on Wexford St
Tuesday 4th Feb: 

1-2PM: Coming Out Workshop with Laura Finlay (this is a safe space so there will be limited numbers) in the Black box Aungier St. Campus
5-6PM: Workshop on Drag with Enda McGrattan (Lady Veda) in the Black Box Aungier St.
8PM: The opening of our student exhibition in The Bell & Pot, with wine reception and prize giving!!

Wednesday 5th Feb:

11AM: Student Protest against the Winter Olypmics in Sochi, Russia at the Russian Embassy, Orwell Rd. Join us, USI and other universities and LGBT societies to stand in solidarity with the members of the LGBTQ community in Russia who face persecution on a daily basis!!
6:30PM: Pizza Party Movie Mania in Bolton St room 259

Thursday 6th Feb:

1-2PM: Talk on the LGBT movement and the sealing of our Time Capsule with guest speaker USI Vice President for Equailty and Citizenship Laura Harmon in the Blackbox Aungier St
5-6PM: Transphobia Workshop and Trans* Remembrance Ceremony in the Black Box Aungier St. Campus
9:30PM: Join us in The Dragon for an intervarsity night that's Mardi Gras themed!! Think beads, bouncy castles and face-paint!!


Events running throughout the week:

Time capsule: We will be burying our time capsule on our new campus in Grangegorman full of personal statements, photos, objects and much more which captures whats its like to be part of the LGBT community in Ireland in 2014. Feel free to bring along anything throughout the week you feel is important for future students to see how it was. 

Student Exhibition: This year we are hosting an exhibition in the Bell and Pot Cafe on Mercer St from the 3rd-6th of February. This exhibition is open to all students and entries can be mixed media, paintings, photography, written word, graphics or sculpture; with all pieces to fit the theme of “Fighting Stereotypes and Exclusion”. With the opening and prize giving on Tuesday the 4th @ 8pm
