DIT students claim top spot in international construction competition

07 May 2014:     DIT students have claimed the top spot in the first ever Region 8 Associated Schools of Construction (ASC) competition held recently in Birmingham City University.    Region 8 is the international home of the Associated Schools of Construction, the American-based professional association for the development and advancement of construction education.  The competition was a health & safety themed task requiring students to prepare a Risk Assessment and safe system of work for demolition and repair works, using a real-life scenario and presented for judging to an industry panel drawn from the region.   DIT students Matthew O’Grady, Craig Grattan, Michael Hickey and Stephen McCarthy were declared the winners and were presented with their prize by Chair of the judging panel, Mark A. Alton, Divisional Director of global engineering, management and development consultants Mott MacDonald Ltd.
