22 April 2014:  Third year journalism students Orla Stafford and Jennifer McDonald (pictured above) recently acted as the Irish hosts for a TV show that streamed live on the internet.

The Global City is broadcast throughout the world and this year introduced students from DIT in Ireland; Ryerson University in Canada; Rutgers University in the USA; and the University of Johannesburg, South Africa.

Orla and Jennifer co-presented live from their Aungier Street studio for two one-hour shows which focused on young people’s relationship to technology and body image.

The show included a number of three to five minute videos produced by media and journalism students from the partner universities and also included live discussion which provided both local and international perspectives on these topics.

The live broadcast and individual videos were produced for the module ‘Video production for the web’ led by School of Media lecturer Tony Murray.

The Global City network is coordinated by the RTA School of Media at Ryerson University, Toronto, Canada. You can see examples of the show at: http://www.theglobalcity.org
