DIT tops the class at National Media Awards

DIT scoops seven awards at annual National Student Media Awards‌

10 April 2014:  DIT reigned supreme at last night's national student media awards, managing to rack up an impressive seven awards.

Ireland’s annual National Student Media Awards (the Smedias), took place last night (Wednesday, April 9) in the Ballsbridge Hotel, Dublin, with over 600 students, sponsors, judges and celebrity guests in attendance. The Awards, organised by Oxygen.ie and now in their 14th year, showcase the best in student media across print, radio, film, television and design.



This year a record number of entries from student journalists all over Ireland competed for awards across a range of categories.  But DIT proved the big winner on the night managing to rack up seven awards as follows:

1.  Colour Writer of the Year (Eoghan McNeill);

2.  Film Script of the Year (Marcus Campbell);

3.  News Photographer of the Year (Natalia Marzec);

4.  Features Writer: Arts & Pop Culture (Amanda Connolly);

5.  Radio DJ of the Year (Graham O'Toole);

6.  Radio Production: News and Current Affairs (Alice Flanigan);

7.  Editor of the Year: (Al McConnell, The Edition)
