Five finalists competing for Euro-Toques Young Chef title for 2014 are John Fitzmaurice (25) Sous Chef at the Mustard Seed, Co. Limerick; Luke Ahearne (22) Chef de Partie at Campagne, Co. Kilkenny ; Matthew Logan (22) Chef de Partie at Chapter One restaurant; Ian McHale (26) Senior Chef de Partie at Chapter One restaurant; and Chris Fullam (21) DIT student of Culinary Arts

Euro-Toques Ireland has revealed the five finalists who will battle it out in Ireland’s most prestigious culinary competition for young chefs – The Euro-Toques Young Chef of the Year Competition 2014.  One of the five is Dubliner Chris Fullam, (21), a third year Culinary Arts student at DIT, who made it into the final having impressed the judges who included Domini Kemp and Graham Neville.  The theme of this year’s competition is ‘No Chef is an Island’ which the candidates interpreted in myriad of ways.

Chris and the other four finalists are competing for the Young Chef title but also for a prize that includes an all expenses paid stage at two-starred Michelin restaurant, The Square in London’s Mayfair.  Phil Howard, Proprietor and chef at The Square, will also be the special guest judge on the day and night of the final which will be held on Sunday November 23rd, at a yet to be revealed venue in Dublin’s City Centre.

In association with Fáilte Ireland and sponsored by La Rousse Foods, the competition’s main aim is to search for Ireland’s young food heroes who will contribute to developing Irish cooking and promote our cuisine at home and abroad. Renowned Euro-Toques members, including Domini Kemp, Graham Neville, Paul Kelly and JP McMahon, will be on hand to assess the final five as they compete in the last stages for the coveted title of Euro-Toques Young Chef of the Year 2014.
