Mozambique Eyecare Project to feature on RTÉ Nationwide June 04th

30 May 2014:  The Mozambique Eyecare Project is delighted to announce that it will be featuring on Nationwide on RTÉ 1 Wednesday 4th June from 7.00pm until 7.30pm. The Mozambique Eyecare Project team visited Mozambique in March this year to carry out a Community Outreach Programme for adults and children. A team of 10 Irish people travelled over, including optometry students, graduates and faculty members from Dublin Institute of Technology. They carried out an eye screening programme at a hospital and school in Mozambique. More than 700 people received eye tests and 360 pairs of glasses were handed out.

Mary Kennedy, presenter of Nationwide, and a cameraman joined the group to document the trip and the work that the Mozambique Eyecare Project is carrying out, namely education of optometrists in Mozambique and the provision of eyecare in Mozambique.

Have a look at some images from the trip on our Facebook page.

The broadcast of Nationwide’s Mozambique special coincides with the visit of the President of Mozambique Armando Guebuza to Ireland. He will visit the MEP photography exhibition at DIT on Thursday 5th of June.

Please tune in to Nationwide on 4th June at 7pm on RTÉ One to see the great work carried out by the MEP team and difference they have made to the people of Mozambique. The programme is available on RTE Player until 25 June and can be accessed here -
