DIT Grad Mark Moriarty wins San Pellegrino Young Chef Competition

Posted: 3 July, 2015

Congratulations to DIT graduate Mark Moriarty who beat off stiff competition to win the prestigious San Pellegrino Young Chef 2015 Competition in Milan last weekend.

Twenty of the world’s most talented young chefs chosen from over 3,000 applications were judged by a panel of international chefs which included Michelin starred Massimo Bottura, Yannick Alleno and Margot Janse.

Mark, having already won Ireland-UK San Pellegrino Young Chef 2015, impressed the judges with his signature dish of celeriac baked in barley and fermented hay, which was the only vegetarian dish to make it through to the Grand Final.

Mark graduated with a BA in Culinary Arts from DIT in 2014.
