Festival fever in Grangegorman

Posted: 16 March, 2016

A large marching band of students from Colorado School of Mines visited DIT Grangegorman yesterday where they practiced for their appearance in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade – much to the delight of students and local children!

Over 70 students from the university are in Dublin for a week.  The School of Mines is a public research university located in Golden Colorado, specialising in engineering and science.

DIT has also been invited to participate in the St. Patrick’s Festival Parade and feverish activity is taking place in the North House as costumes and props are finalised!  Over 100 student and staff have volunteered to be part of a colourful pageant that represents Dublin’s past, present and future.  The theme will be represented by a river of blue, with boats, rockets, and islands of creativity depicting some well-known images of Dublin and some that haven’t yet arrived.

Yesterday the performers got the first opportunity to test their props outdoors and joined the ‘Miners’ in an impromptu parade!
