Following a visit to neighbouring Stoneybatter, which has been nominated by Dublin City Council this year in the “Pride of Place” competition”, the group continued onto the campus through the Fingal Place entrance to see how the campus is integrating with the local community.  He was welcomed to the campus by the President of DIT, Professor Brian Norton, Dr. Paul Horan, Head of Campus Planning and Mr. Ger Casey, CEO of the Grangegorman Development Agency.

Mayor Reed, who was accompanied by Mr. Shane Stephens from the Irish Consulate in Atlanta, was particularly interested in economic regeneration in the Grangegorman area and in the operation and potential impact of the Greenway Hub, including the Hothouse entrepreneur programmes.  He and Lord Mayor Brendan Carr also exchanged views and experiences of regeneration initiatives underway in Atlanta and Dublin, including housing and transport.

Mayor Reed is in Dublin to support his hometown college football team Georgia Tech in their challenge against Boston College which takes place in the Aviva Stadium on Saturday 03 September.
