At the Ireland Active Annual Gala Awards Ceremony in Athlone in November, the DIT Fit2GoClub in both Kevin Street and Grangegorman were presented with White Flag Silver Awards for 2017.

Based on the Blue Flag for beaches, the White Flag is a quality award offered to Sports and Leisure Facilities that are deemed to have reached a high level in areas such as hygiene, customer care and operating procedures. An external auditor conducted a detailed assessment of both clubs early in November.

DIT Fit2Go club also achieved a bronze Award for Kevin Street in 2015 and this is now followed by a Silver Award for Kevin Street and a Bronze for Grangegorman in 2016.

DIT Sports Facilities and Development Manager John O'Carroll commented. “I was delighted that we achieved this award again for both clubs. This has been a challenging year with severe staff shortages but we all managed to pull together for such a positive result. I want to personally thank my colleague Niamh O'Callaghan and all the staff for the effort they put into securing these awards for 2015 and 2016. Our plan is to apply for the Gold Award for 2018 and also to apply for a Dry Land Award for our Outdoor Sports Facilities.”
