Posted: 31 July, 2017

DIT Sports Scholar Niall Beggan was a member of the Irish U23 Quadruple Sculls team that won bronze at the recent U23 World Rowing Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.

The lightweight men’s quad of which Niall is a member had an excellent start to their World Championships campaign, winning their first heat comfortably and going on to the A/B semifinals.

The team went on to come third in the semis and in a nail-biting final they finished with a time of 5:52.370, less than two seconds behind the winning Swiss team and only 2/100ths of a second behind 2nd placed Austria.

Congratulations to Niall and all of his teammates for such a marvellous achievement; at the tender age of 19 this win is a sure sign of greater things to come for Niall.
