DIT student Joe Doyle awarded his first International Football CapPosted: 18 December, 2017
Joe Doyle, a second-year student in Business and Law at DIT, has received his first international cap as a player with the Republic of Ireland Colleges and Universities football team.
Joe was one of thirty players who made an appearance for the Colleges and Universities side, which played a number of high profile international fixtures in the 2016-2017 season.
Joe, currently a striker with Cabinteely FC, played alongside a mixture of SSE Airtricity League players and emerging talents from the Leinster and Munster Senior Leagues.
On receiving his first-ever cap, Joe said, “It was a massive honour to represent Ireland and I’m delighted to receive a cap to mark it.”
In 2015, the Football Association of Ireland (FAI), in collaboration with third-level institutions in Ireland, formed a combined team to compete at international level. The FAI awards international caps to all players who play for the side.
