Making the Web All Ages Event: Saturday, 20 October

Posted: 8 October, 2018

The Centre for Critical Media Literacy at DIT is hosting an event for anyone interested in making their own media on Saturday, 20 October 2018 as part of its second annual conference.

Taking Back the Web will feature a series of media workshops for all ages and abilities, and will provide attendees with hands-on tips and tools for telling their own stories. Highlights on the day include a spoken word performance by Leah Hilliard about women, social media and the importance of the electric kettle as a tool for mindfulness in the modern age. Basil Lim’s workshop will help participants to make a game that tells a story and Susie Birmingham will talk about sonic subversion in the post-digital age.

Dr Harry Browne and Deborah Brennan of DIT will also deliver workshops about words and stories, and how social media has impacted the world of news and journalism.

You can register for these workshops on Event Brite and a full schedule of events is available here -  Making the Web Flyer
