The Harps of Ireland and Scotland perform in DIT Grangegorman

Posted: 26 February, 2018

Join us for an exciting performance by the harp ensembles of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (RCS) and DIT Conservatory in DIT Grangegorman this Friday 2nd March.

Conservatory - Harp Ensemble

The concert will bring together 16 harp students from the two Conservatories and will feature solo and ensemble playing of traditional music from Ireland and Scotland, along with music by Bach, Grandjany, Hammond, Mussorgsky, Salzedo and Zabel.

The harpists will come together for two days in St Laurence’s Church to explore the rich musical traditions of Ireland and Scotland through an immersion in solo masterclasses and ensemble playing led by DIT Lecturers Denise Kelly McDonnell, Gráinne Hambly and Clíona Doris.

Next week, the harpists will travel to Glasgow to work with Sharon Griffiths at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, performing a joint concert at the Conservatoire on Monday 5th March.

The DIT Harp Ensemble and the RCS Harp Ensemble have developed a strong collaborative relationship since performing at the Edinburgh International Harp Festival in 2016.
