TU Dublin student stars in Edna O’Brien’s ‘The Country Girls’

Edna O’Brien’s classic novel, The Country Girls has been adapted for the stage by the author herself and opens in The Abbey Theatre on Thursday 28 February.

TU Dublin Drama student Grace Collender will make her professional debut in the production, starring as Kate.

A delighted Peter McDermott, head of Drama Studies in TU Dublin Conservatoire, said “Huge congratulations to our final-year BA in Drama student Grace Collender on landing this tremendous role of Kate in The Country Girls in Ireland’s national theatre. We are immensely proud of her and look forward to the stage adaptation of Edna O'Brien’s classic, controversial coming-of-age novel.”

The part of Baba is played by Lola Petticrew and you can see Grace and Lola discussing the play in this video from the Abbey, which also includes Graham McLaren who directs the production.
