The BA Photography at the Dublin Institute of Technology is a 4 year full time honours degree programme offered by the School of Media and located in the heart of Dublin city on Meeting House Square in Temple Bar.
The place of photography and the role of the photographic image in society is an important, exciting and complex arena of representation and potential that manifests itself in a multitude of ways in contemporary culture.

The BA Photography programme offers a practical, critical and theoretically challenging undergraduate education for those who wish to study photography in the context of broader media practices and visual culture. Students are introduced to the practice of photography and imagemaking across a range of production and presentation modes which equips them with the conceptual and technical ability required of a professional artist or media practitioner. The relationship between practice and theory is foregrounded which enables the student to contextualise his or her photographic practice and research in relation to historical frameworks and contemporary political, theoretical and social debates. Our graduates are socially engaged practitioners and critical thinkers, equipped with excellent technical and communication skills.
The BA Photography programme at the DIT offers students an education and experience which will prepare them to practice professionally in the area of photography and related fields.
