Application Queries

How do I Apply?

You can apply online by clicking the "Apply Now" button on each programme page.

For full details on how to make an application please click How To Apply

Is it possible to send a hardcopy of the application?

No, all applications must be made online.

How To Apply Online

Is there an Application Fee?

Yes.  The application fee is €45 which is non-refundable and payable by Visa, Mastercard, Laser or American Express.  You can apply for more than one postgraduate programme but you will only be required to pay this application fee once.

Please Note:  When making an online application, keep a record of your login details - username and password - as you will need them if you wish to make more than one application.  Using the same login details will ensure that you avoid paying the €45 application fee again.   You will also need your login details if you decide to leave your current application and finish it later or if you are made an offer which you wish to accept.

If you forget your password, please contact us at postgraduate@dit.ie and we will reset it for you.  Should you start a new application using a different username and password, the system will require that you pay the €45 application fee again.

What are the minimum entry requirements for admission?

The minimum entry requirement for the majority of postgraduate taught programmes is a 2.2 hons degree or equivalent. Equivalency for international degrees will only be checked subject to application.

I have not yet finished my primary honours degree. Can I still apply?

If you do not yet have your final degree results this will not hinder your application as we are happy to issue conditional offers in such circumstances.  However, when making an application please be sure to upload your academic transcripts to date and to forward your final results as soon as you receive them to postgraduate@dit.ie.

What is the closing date for application?

The closing date for the majority of our programmes, commencing in September 2013, is Friday, 26th April, 2013. However some programmes set their own individual dates so please consult our website at www.dit.ie/study/postgraduate prior to making an application.  Specified closing dates may be extended subject to availability of places.

Course Content / Fees / Timetables

I want to know something about the course content or outline. Can the Postgraduate Admissions Office help?

Our website contains up to date information on our taught programmes, and this is what the Postgraduate Admissions office will use to aid you in your query. If after looking at the website, you still require more information on the taught programme of interest to you it is advisable to contact the Course Coordinator. Contact details of each can be found at the top of each course outline on our website.

Can you give me an indication of what my timetable would be like were I to do the course?

Please see the following link and follow the instructions: Timetables

Please note that these are the timetables for the current semester and are subject to change.

Another option is to contact the course co ordinator. Contact details of each can be found at the top of each course outline on our website.

I am a non-EU applicant and have been living in Ireland for a while, I think I qualify for the EU status. Can you tell me if I do?

You will need to contact the International office who will help you with this query.  The number is 01 - 402 3435 or e-mail: pg.international@dit.ie

Please also see this link for information on the EU Fee Policy at DIT.

Notification on Application status

I was not offered any of the courses I applied for. Can I get my €45 application fee back?

The €45 application fee is non-refundable.

I have been asked to provide transcripts of my degree, but I am a former DIT student. Surely you have my transcripts:

We do not have access to students records as these are confidential.  It is your responsibility to forward your transcripts to the Postgraduate Admissions Office.  Please be sure to put your online application reference number on any documents you are sending in by email or post.

Offers / Regrets / Deferrals

I have been offered a course but I am still waiting to hear about another one which I would prefer to do. What should I do?

All offers are given a time frame to reply by. In this instance if you feel you would like to pursue the first course offered, if you haven't yet received an offer for your preferred course, please accept your offer and pay the acceptance fee by the date specified. If at a later date you are offered your preferred course we can then switch your acceptance to the new offer.

Will I have to pay the acceptance fee twice then?

No. If you have already accepted an offer and paid the €300 once, we can transfer this acceptance fee to the new course you wish to accept. Therefore the acceptance fee will only ever be paid once.

I need to pay a €300 deposit fee for my course, how can I do that ?

You should follow the instructions in your offer email.  Acceptances and payment of €300 deposit fee should be made by following the instructions provided in your offer email, in this case payment should be made online by Visa, Laser, Mastercard or American Express.  You will need your login details - username and password (see above 'Application Queries') in order to accept your offer and pay your acceptance fee.  If you have forgotten your password, email us at postgraduate@dit.ie and we will reset it for you.

I have been offered a place on a course but I will not get my transcripts until July. Do I need to pay the deposit fee now ?

The €300 deposit fee is required to secure your place and we will wait for your transcripts. The deposit fee is non refundable but in the case where you do not get the minimum requirement of an honours degree 2.2 (or 2.1 for some courses), we will refund the €300 euro minus an administration fee.

I wish to defer my course for one year. Is this possible?

Deferrals are at the course co ordinators discretion. If you wish to defer please contact postgraduate@dit.ie  and we will look after it for you.

If I defer can I have my acceptance fee refunded?

The acceptance fee is non-refundable. Should your deferral be granted, the fee paid will be carried over to the following year and deducted from the rest of the tuition fees for that year.
