Introduction

CONVERSION PROGRAMME
The programme is aimed at both professionals currently employed within the tourism industry and those from complementary backgrounds who wish to enter the tourism field. In this context it may be of particular interest to people coming from a heritage, languages, geography, marketing or business background. Graduates of this programme have found employment in a wide range of positions within and outside the industry. Career paths include management positions in the travel sector, tour operators, national and regional tourism organisations, tourist attractions, hospitality businesses, community development, cultural organisations, cooperative marketing groups, support agencies and local authorities. There are also opportunities for graduates in research, teaching and consultancy.
This programme aims to equip participants with the necessary expertise to manage, co-ordinate and develop tourism businesses and projects in Ireland and abroad. It is aimed at both professionals currently employed within the tourism industry and those from related fields. This dynamic programme encourages interaction between academics and industry practitioners from the national and international tourism sector.

Assessment
The programme is assessed through a range of methods, which includes: project work; group work, assignments; presentations and terminal examinations. In addition, students will be expected to complete a dissertation.

Timetable / Hours
The full time programme involves two days of lectures (12 hours) per week, while the part time option consists of one day (6 hours) over two years. PLease note all lectures are delivered during the day (9 - 5pm). In addition to lectures students will undertake significant self directed learning and research.
Entry Requirements
Applicants should possess a primary degree at honours level (2.2 grade or higher) or equivalent. In addition, applicants may be required to complete an admission interview.
Note: Due to the considerable competition for our postgraduate programmes satisfying the minimum entry requirement is not a guarantee of a place. Depending on the programme of study applications will be assessed based on your academic grades and may also take into account your work/life experience. Applicants may also be required to attend for interview for specific programmes.
Award
Graduates of the programme are eligible for the award of Masters Degree in Tourism Management (M.Sc. in Tourism Management) of the Dublin Institute of Technology.
