I need my grant application form stamped by DIT

Only when students have completed their registration will they be able to request a Verification letter or have any of their documents stamped.

1st year students can bring their documents to be stamped to the ID Card Collection event in DIT Aungier St.

Returning students should attend their local Student Services Centre.

What is the earliest date I can register by?

Students need to check the ‘Register Me’ section of the Registration Service website to confirm how they register with DIT. ‘Register Me’ will inform you if you must register online or are required to register in person.

Web Registration – For those who are able to avail of the online web registration system, once you have received your Invitation to Register, you can register and pay online.

In Person Registration - Please see ‘Registration: Next Steps’ to confirm the date and time of your registration schedule. Students must attend at the allocated date and time for your programme.

What is the last date I can register by?

For students who have not registered, penalties are applied from:
     31 October annually (for programmes commencing in September)
      1 March annually (for programmes commencing in January)

Penalties include additional financial charges and the removal of access to student services.




How do I register for my programme?

Students need to check the ‘Register Me’ section of the Registration Service website to confirm how they register with DIT.

If I have outstanding fees from a previous academic year with DIT, can I still register for the new academic year?

No. Students with outstanding fees are not permitted to register on the next year of their programme or on a different programme in DIT until their fees are cleared in full. The Registration Service does not invite students with outstanding fees to re-register.

Any Final year student with outstanding fees will not receive their academic transcripts for their programme of study and will not be permitted to graduate from DIT until all fees are paid in full.

If I am away or on Erasmus exchange can someone else register me on my programme?

Returning students receive their Invitation to Register to their DIT student email account, therefore you can register from anywhere in the world.

In order to register online please ensure you have the following:
•    Invitation To Register email (Contains your Student ID and your PIN)

How much will my fees be?

Please refer to the ‘Fees and Grants’ section of the Registration Service website to confirm fees for this academic year.

Postgraduate and Part time students can refer to the DIT website for further information on programme fees.

Undergradaute students please note that depending on your circumstances the fee being charged to you may differ from what is stated on the webpage, as all first time students to DIT are individually assessed for fees.

Do I qualify for free fees?

Students who have accepted a place in DIT or are registered with the Institute can contact registration.service@dit.ie to enquire further about their eligibility for Free Tuition Fees

If the fees I owe are greater than my daily limit on my credit/debit card, how do I pay my fees online?

If your daily credit limit on your card is less than the amount you owe in Fees you can pay your fees in more than one online transaction.#

For Example:

If your fees amount to €2000 but the daily limit on your debit/credit card is €1500.  You should go online pay €1500 and register in one transaction.  Then the following day, go online again and pay the remaining €500 in a second transaction.

I deferred my place in DIT last year, what fees will I have to pay?

The fee charged will depend on the date your deferral was granted.
A summary is as follows:

Students who deferred before 31st October

  • Are liable for the Student Contribution Charge for the current academic year
  • Are not liable for any additional Tuition Fees in the current academic year

Students who deferred after 31st October and before 31st January

  • Are liable for the Student Contribution Charge for the current academic year
  • Are liable for half Tuition Fees for the current academic year

Students who deferred after 31st January

  • Are liable for the Student Contribution Charge for the current academic year
  • Are liable for full Tuition Fees for the current academic year

Please Note: For programmes running for the calendar year (January to December) as opposed to the academic year (September to May) the dates above can be amended to read 1st March (for 31st October) and 30th June (for 31st January).

What fees does a repeat student have to pay?

Please refer to the 'Fees and Grants' section of the Registration Service website for information on repeat fees for this current academic year.

When should I have my fees paid by?

How can I assess my eligibility for Free Fees?

How do I apply for a grant?

Depending on your status or the type and level of programme which you are attending, you may be eligible for financial assistance from the Irish Government or from a Local Authority such as a County Council or a Vocational Educational Committee (VEC).  Under the Irish Government’s Free Fee Scheme you may be eligible to funding towards your tuition fee. I deferred my place in DIT last year, what fees will I have to pay?

When is Induction for the first year of my programme?

It is important that you attend your induction programme if it is your first time to attend DIT.

Do returning students have to attend induction?

No, there is no induction for returning students.

What happens if I cannot attend my programme induction?

If you are unable to attend your programme induction you are advised to contact the School Office and inform them that you will not be in attendance.

When do I collect my DIT student ID Card?

Once you have completed (1) registration and (2) payment of fees online, you are entitled to collect your DIT Student ID Card.  Please see Registration: Next Steps for information on your DIT ID Card Collection Schedule.

You must remember to bring your Confirmation of Registration email when collecting your ID Card.

What happens if I can not collect my ID card at the scheduled date and time?

Students must attend at the allocated date and time for their programme.

At times outside of central id card events, students must visit the DIT Student Services Centre in Aungier St or Bolton St to obtain their ID card.

What happens if I register late?

A late fee penalty will be applied to all student accounts for those who have not registered by:
31st October (for programmes commencing in September)
1st March (for programmes commencing in January)

If you do not register on your programme by the last day of the first term term, you will be removed from the DIT record system.

If a student presents for registration after this date,  registration is at the discretion of the Institute and an additional fee penalty will apply.

What happens if I miss the first week of class?

The first thing that students must to do (1) register and (2) pay fees online.

If you are unable to attend your first week of class, you should contact your DIT School to inform them that you are not in a position to attend during the first week of class.

When do my classes start?

Please check the DIT Academic Calendar for information on class commencement dates of term.

How do I obtain a letter to confirm my registration and fees paid with DIT?

Students must have firstly registered on their programme and paid your fees or declared that you have applied for grant assistance.  All requests for this letter should be made to our Student Services Centres.  Every effort is made to provide this letter to students who present in person at a Student Service Centre Office.

This letter is an extremely useful document and should be retained safely by you.  You have permission to photocopy this document if required by different parties. 

This letter will provide written evidence of:

  • Proof of registration at DIT for the current academic session
  • Fees paid for the current academic session
  • The start and end date of the current academic session 
I have social welfare/grant application forms that require an official DIT stamp. Where and when can I get these stamped?

New students may bring all documentation to be stamped to their ID card event. Following this, students must visit their local Student Services Centre.

Returning students may visit their local Student Services Centre to have forms stamped.

All students must present their DIT student card when requesting this service.

Only students who have completed their registration can have their forms authorised by DIT.

Where can I find information on student accommodation?

Information on accommodation in Dublin City is available from DIT's Campus Life Office

I'm sitting supplemental examinations in September, when will I be able to register?
Students who are required to sit supplemental examinations in September 2011 have permission to attend classes early in the new term while they are awaiting the outcome of their repeat examinations.
 
Students who are successful in their examinations will be sent an Invitation To Register to their DIT student email account.
 
Unsuccessful students must discontinue attending classes as soon as they receive their results. Students should refer to the information provided on this web site on how to apply to repeat their academic studies.
Where and how do I get my DIT email address?

An example of our email address is firstname.surname@student.dit.ie

New entrants to DIT will be sent details of their DIT email address in their InvitationTo Register letter. This letter is sent to you by post when you have accepted your place in DIT.

For students who cannot register online and do not receive an InvitationTo Register letter, the default settings are as follows:
Username: This is your DIT student number
Password: This is your 8 digit date of birth e.g. ddmmyyyy

How does the Registration Service contact students?

We will contact you via your DIT email address.

It is important that you access your DIT email address regularly as it is the main method of communication the registration service uses to contact you.
If you have not used your DIT email account for 60 days it may have expired.
If you get this error, wait 5 minutes to allow it to re-enable and just try to login again.
