I-Cubed DIT Incubator for Start-ups
Applications are now being accepted for the I-Cubed DIT Start-up Incubator. The closing date for applications is by 12 noon on Friday, 20th May 2016.
2016 Docklands Innovation/DIT Student Enterprise Competition
Team Feathergrip, students of Product Design scooped first place and a €2,500 cash prize at the competition Grand Final in DIT Bolton Street. Team members Darragh Sheridan, Karl Martin, Ciaran Brennan and Darragh Caffrey impressed the judges with their presentation of Feathergrip – a device that enables a person with an impaired grip to be able to hold a personal smart device for a prolonged period.
‘Research Through a Lens’
The Irish Research Council have recently launched a Twitter photo competition called ‘Research Through a Lens’ The competition is open to all researchers based in eligible Higher Education Institutions and Research Performing Organisations in Ireland until 5pm on Wednesday 17 February.

Innovation 2020: Excellence Talent Impact
On 08, December 2015 the Minister for Skills, Research and Innovation Damien English TD, together with the Taoiseach and the Minister for Jobs, published Innovation 2020, Ireland’s 5-year strategy for research and development, science and technology. This innovation plan is a key element of the Government’s overall jobs strategy, Enterprise 2025, aimed at building a new economy based on exports and enterprise, and delivering full employment on a sustainable basis.
€1.5 million ERC grant awarded to DIT researcher Dr. Mary Rogan
The European Research Council (ERC) has announced the award of 291 Starting Grants to researchers across Europe. Dr. Mary Rogan, Assistant Head of School of Languages, Law and Social Science in DIT, has been awarded funding of €1.5 million under the grant scheme for her project entitled Prisons: the Rule of Law, Accountability and Rights.
First Wind Trials of New Wind Measurement Device in Ireland Since 1846
A new three-dimensional anemometer - the Urchin - developed by the Energy Resource Group at DIT Kevin St was deployed on the 30th of September 2015 at Baldonnel Aerodrome in a Joint Met Éireann/DIT wind trial.
