5th Annual Postgraduate Research Symposium

The Graduate Research School at DIT were delighted to host the 5th Annual Postgraduate Research Symposium in the Focas Research Institute on Tuesday, 25th November 2014.

This year students and supervisors from all three partner institutions, i.e. Dublin Institute of Technology, Institute of Technology Tallaght and Institute of Technology Blanchardstown joined together in an inspiring event packed with research, innovation, intellectual exchange and so much more!

13 oral presentations and 28 posters delivered by current research students of the three institutions competed separately for the award of Best Presentation and Best Poster of the event. Each of them was closely related to one of our main research thematic areas, i.e “Society, Culture and Enterprise”, “Environment, Energy & Health”, “Information, Communications and Media Technologies” and “New Materials and Devices”. The lively audience that filled up the Seminar Room of the Focas Research Institute provided feedback and asked questions which stimulated dialogue and further insight into each of the showcased projects. For the full details of the students who made an oral presentation or a poster take a look at the Postgraduate Research Symposium Booklet.

The President of DIT, Professor Brian Norton also attended the event and announced the winners of the awards:

  • Jason Flood, PhD candidate in Institute of Technology Blanchardstown, who made an oral presentation on A methodology to improve network defence through a gamification framework
  • Aoife Delaney, PhD candidate in Institute of Technology Tallaght, who made a poster on An Electrochemical Immunosensor device for Portable Bovine Pregnancy Testing - “Immuno-CAP”
