DIT Fiosraigh Scholarship Programme 2011
Dean of Graduate Students Award
The Dublin Institute of Technology Fiosraigh Dean of Graduate Students Award recognises the outstanding achievement by individual students at undergraduate level and is open to talented students who wish to pursue a PhD.
Applications are invited from students of any higher education institution, in Ireland or internationally.
Description of the Scheme
Applicants should develop their research in liaison with a DIT potential supervisor/supervisory team. The research should be conducted in association with a Dublin Institute of Technology designated R&D Centre/Institutes. Successful candidates will be known as a Dublin Institute of Technology Fiosraigh Scholar, and will be paid a stipend of €16,000 in addition to their fees, and €2000 project costs, for 4 years. Funding is available up to a maximum of 4 years, and will be paid annually, based upon successful completion of the annual assessment.
There will be a maximum of 4 awards per annum.
Application Procedure
Awards will be made on the basis of a defined proposal for the work with specified outputs. All applications to undertake graduate research must have the support of a potential DIT supervisor, and of a DIT designated R&D Centre/Institute where the work will be carried out.
Candidates will have obtained a primary degree classification equivalent to Upper Second Class Honours (2.1) or above, in an area cognate to the proposed research topic.
