Fiosraigh Research Excellence Award
The DIT Fiosraigh Research Excellence Award is the most prestigious research award made by DIT and recognizes excellence in research by individual researchers, who must be based in a designated DIT Research Centre or Research Institute. The purpose of the award scheme is
- To recognise, encourage and reward members of Dublin Institute of Technology academic staff for their contribution to research;
- To affirm the commitment of Dublin Institute of Technology to research.
All researchers at DIT are eligible to be nominated for this award which will provide one scholarship annually to support a full-time PhD student and includes a stipend of €16,000 and €2,000 for project costs, for each of four years. Successful PhD students will be known as Dublin Institute of Technology Fiosraigh Scholars. Funding is available up to a maximum of 4 years, and will be paid annually, based upon successful completion of the annual assessment by the PhD student.

The entire selection process for this award is treated in the strictest confidence. Any two permanent members of DIT staff can make a nomination by using the Research Excellence Award Nomination Form An individual cannot nominate more than one researcher for this award. The person nominated must express his/her willingness to accept the nomination by completing a Research Excellence Award Application Form . An individual researcher may nominate him/herself and, in this case, should complete both forms. Previous award recipients or part-time researchers are not eligible to apply.
The completed application including both forms must be sent as a PDF file to graduateresearchschool@dit.ie by 12 noon, June 10th 2013.
