Agreeing the Final Contract

This step tends to be a formality when

  • advice has been sought prior to submission
  • DIT has had previous contracts under the particular funding programme
  • the funder has a standard contract

When funding is from a new source or there are unique conditions assigned to the project, allow time for clarifying issues in relation to the contract.

There are three people in DIT who have the authority to sign research contracts:
Professor Brian Norton, Paul Flynn and Professor Ellen Hazelkorn.
Therefore if you have received a research contract it must be submitted to the Directorate of Research and Enterprise to be signed by one of these official DIT signatories.
Eidin Finlay in the office of the Director of Research and Enterprise will assist with this process.

The DRE will do a final check on the contract, ensure budget is as agreed and identify intellectual property issues.
