Introduction
Background:
In this, the 19th consecutive year of the competition, DIT is again providing its students, both postgraduate and undergraduate students, with the opportunity to win a range of cash prizes in the biggest 3rd level institute enterprise competition in the country. The main objective of the competition is to foster a spirit of entrepreneurship among DIT students and to encourage and support a rigorous business planning approach to entrepreneurial activities.
Entries:
The competition is open to teams of registered DIT students. Each team should have at least two but no more than six students. The students can come from any discipline and any college and multi-disciplinary, cross-college teams are particularly welcome. In certain circumastances a team of one may be accepted.
Time Schedule:
The closing date for submission of completed business plans is Friday, February 3rd at 5PM. One electronic copy (pdf) must be submitted to bizplan@dit.ie on or before that date. There will be no exceptions made for late entries.
A shortlist will be selected on February 17th and all shortlisted teams will be notified by 22nd February.
The quarter-finals will take place between February 28th and 29th in DIT Cathal Brugha St., DIT Bolton St., DIT Aungier St. and DIT Kevin St. Each team must make a ten-minute presentation to a panel of adjudicators followed by a five minute Q & A session.
Teams that qualify from the quarter-finals will be given the opportunity to update their plans before the semi-finals. Updated plans have to be submitted to bizplan@dit.ie on or before Wednesday, March 14th.
The semi-finals will consist of another ten-minute presentation and a five minute Q & A session. There will be no changes allowed to business plans after the semi-finals.
At the finals (March 28th) teams will present their business plans to a selected panel of adjudicators whose decision shall be final. The results will be announced on the night and prizes will be presented to all the winning teams.
