Research Interests
She has a particular research interest in older people in Irish society. Her PhD was study of the participation of older people in their communities published as The Community Life of Older People in Ireland. She has been successful in obtaining funding under the Strand 1 post graduate programme of research.Additional Information
Dr Gallagher teaches Sociology and Social Policy on the BA Hons in Social Care and on the MA in Child, Family and Community Studies. She is currently Programme Chair and Coordinator of the MACFC. She has developed CPD training for staff who are responsible for providing activities programmes in day and residential centres for older people. She has corrected, supervised and advised on M.Phil, MA dissertations and PhD theses. She has acted as external examiner and programme reviewer in a number of IOTs.
