Principles of Integrity & Ethics
DIT's Research Ethics Committee meets regularly and promotes good standards of ethical research and scholarly practice, emphasizes integrity and rigour and sustains a culture in which a number of guiding principles are understood and observed. The Committee is guided in its work by commonly agreed standards of good practice including the European Code of Conduct for Research Integrity and the IUA Policy Statement on Ensuring Research Integrity in Ireland.
The Committee respects academic freedom in the sense of following difficult ideas wherever they may lead, and remembers that research and scholarship is an important activity within the academic community. Because DIT encourages research and scholarship in order to add to the human store of knowledge, we encourage researchers to be as open as possible in discussing and disseminating their work with other researchers and the public.
