About us:Lifelong Learning incorporates the following:
Strategic development:
Lifelong Learning is an integral part of the implementation of the DIT strategic plan under Theme 1 seeking to enhance the DIT as a Multi-level learner centred environment.We also work with the Faculty Heads of Learning Development. Over the last year, we have:
facilitated the development of the DIT teaching, learning and assessment strategy,
supported a Focusing on Assessment for Learning campaign,
initiated the Unlocking your potential as a mature student campaign and
endorsed a number of student induction initiatives.
During the academic year 2005-'06, we will be working closely with the DIT Disability Liaison, Student Counselling, the International student office and Access Service and DITSU to support the 'Embracing diversity at the DIT' campaign.
Learning, teaching and assessment activities:A variety of accredited programmes, tailor designed courses, workshops and a consultancy service are offered through the LTC and LLT. We support the school and institutional President's awards for teaching excellence and DIT centrally funded Learning, Teaching and Assessment projects.
Lifelong Learning staff are actively involved on a number of DIT committees and working groups and have close links with a range of national and international professional bodies. We facilitate educational research through externally and internally funded projects and support an Educational Research Synergy Group. Examples of projects we have recently been involved with are: STAR science, VaLEx project and Quest for learning.
Shared resources:Working in association with other DIT staff, we support a number of initiatives that encourage the exchange and development of ideas relating to teaching, learning and assessment including the assessment database. These are available through our Intranet site.
