BA (Ord.) Social Care Practice (in-service)
This three year programme is a Work-Based-Learning programme intended for those who are already in paid employment in the field of Social Care in the greater Dublin region.
There are three main components to this Level 7 degree:
1) Social Theory Programme
2) Psychology Programme
3) Professional Practice Programme

Students will be required to attend college 1 day per week for the duration of the academic year. First year students will participate in a two day induction programme and block weeks will be held in November and January.
Location: DIT, 40-45 Mountjoy Square, Dublin 1.
Entry Requirements
All applicants should be in full-time Social Care employment for the duration of the programme and have completed at least one year full-time employment in the sector. The course is not open to part-time or relief social care workers. Applicants are required to show that their manager/employer has agreed to support their attendance on the course and to show that they have the potential to perform academically at BA (Ord.) level. Cognisance will be taken of former academic attainment.
Career Opportunities
This three year programme leads to a professional qualification in Social Care Work. It aims to train people to work with a range of client groups: children in care, people with intellectual disabilities, families in the community, people in day-care centres, youth projects and programmes.
Application Process
Applications for entry in September 2012 shall be accepted from 1st January 2012, and details of the application process are posted at our 'How to Apply' page. Deadline is 27th April 2012.
Fee information is detailed in the Application Form and accompanying notes. Fees may be paid in two installments, the 1st in October 2012 and the 2nd by 31st January 2013.
