Perspectives on Family and Community; Contemporary Issues in Early education (MA Child, Family and Community Studies).

Eleven years experience in a variety of child and family services both as a social worker and as an early years practitioner.

Current research interests

Partnership between early years practitioners and families in early years services.

Professional development of early years practitioners.

Member of the Consultative Committee of the Centre for Early Childhood Development and Education (CECDE) (2004-08).

Community Involvement

Member of St. Mary’s Nursery Executive Board, St. Vincent’s Trust, Dublin (2002-present).

Co-ordinated a “Students Learning with Communities” project to produce a book to celebrate 21 years of Home-Start ( Ireland ) in Blanchardstown.

 “Tea and Friends - Home-Start Blanchardstown-Celebrating 21 Years of Service” (2009).

Awards

Boston College two-week fellowship on the Very Early Childhood Education Program, USA (2006).

Fulbright scholarship (four months) in USA , 1983.

Council of Europe study trips to Sweden (1986) and Denmark (1992).
