Sports Clubs FAQ's

 

 

 

 

There are many benefits to joining a sports club,

  • Getting/ Staying fit and healthy
  • Meeting new people and making new Friends
  • Trying something new – fitness class/ learn to swim/ sign up for a 5k run!
  • Playing sport against your friends in other Colleges
  • Competing on the World Stage!

You can join at either the Clubs and Socs Festival that takes place at the start of the Academic year or at Refreshers week that takes place at the start of the second semester. You can also join by contacting the club contact that can be found here. Remember it’s never too late during the year to join any activity or Club, just turn up at a training session or contact the club directly.

DIT has over 40 Sports Clubs on offer, from Archery right through to Yoga.  All our Clubs cater for complete beginners through to elite athletes.

With over 40 different clubs there will be something that will suit you! Our clubs range from GAA to Ultimate Frisbee and everything in between! And if you don’t find the club that you are looking for you can always start your own! Drop into the Sports Office to find out more! There is something to suit all levels and abilities.

Nope! For most people joining a sports club in college is a great way to try a new sport that you have never tried before, all levels are welcome and catered for so whether you are seasoned campaigner or a complete novice, come along to a training session and have a chat with the members to see what it’s all about!

Absolutely! You do not need to have previous experience to join any of the Sports Clubs just come along and join in!   

The cost of joining a sports club varies from €2-€5. 

Yes! There are intervarsity competitions where different colleges compete against each other; it’s a great way to mix with students from other colleges around Ireland.

There are many different types of competitions, depending on the club you join. There are Intervarsities where you will compete against other colleges and universities as well as leagues and cup competitions. There are also International competitions and trips away!

 

Training normally takes place 1-2 times a week depending on the club, to find out when and where your training is on click here!

Yes, all equipment is provided, all you have to do is show up!
