DIT student Joe Doyle named in Team Ireland’s Men’s Football Squad to compete at 2017 World University Games in Taipei City, Taiwan
Congratulations to Joe Doyle a first year DIT Business and Law student who has been named in the Team Ireland 20 player men’s football squad to compete at the 29th World University Games in Taipei City, Taiwan. The former Lakelands and Dundalk U19 striker signed for Cabinteely in 2016 and plays in the First Division of the SSE Airtricity League. Scoring 7 goals in 24 appearances for Cabinteely last season he looks to surpass his goal tally this season having already bagged 6 goals in 20 games with 9 League games left to play for. Joe is also a key player for the DIT Men’s Soccer Team having scored 7 goals in his first season playing in the Colleges and Universities Premier Division, looks set to spearhead DIT’s attack in the League this coming season.
Embracing the International University Sports Federation (FISU’s) motto of ‘Excellence in Mind and Body’, over 9,000 athletes will come together in Taipei, Taiwan to compete in some 300 medal events, across 17 sports at the 29th World University Games, 19-30 August 2017. Team Ireland will compete in 4 of the 17 sports in Taipei and will officially welcome aboard again Athletics, Swimming, Diving and Men’s & Women’s Football to the 2017 Team Ireland Delegation.
