DIT Ladies GAA Update

Tue, 03 Jul 2018 14:56:00 IST

‌It's been a busy few weeks for DIT Ladies GAA with victories in both League Finals and the O'Connor Cup Draw taking place in St Laurences Church last Thursday.

On November 28th, the newly formed DIT Ladies Intermediates won their Division 6 League final with a convincing win over DCU in Grangegorman. This was a fantastic result for a team in their first year of competition. Congratulations to all the players and also to Louise, Orla, Sean and Lar for all their hard work this year.

F‌ollowing on from the Inters victory, the DIT Ladies Seniors defeated St Marys University Belfast in Dundalk by 3-15 to 1-13 to claim the Division 3 championship. Congratulations to Sean and to all the players. DITs Hannah Leahy was named player of the match on the night.

To round off the festivities, DIT hosted the Championship draw in St Laurences Church, Grangegorman Campus, which included the draws for the O'Connor, Giles, Lynch, Moynihan, Donaghy and Lagan Cups. The finals will be hosted by DIT in early March with the competition kicking off on February 6th. In the Lynch Cup, DIT Seniors will take on IT Tralee in a neutral venue on 6th February and the Inters will be up against TCD in Trinity in their Lagan Cup game on the same date.

Darragh Biddlecombe, DIT GAA Development Officer, welcomed Third Level LGFA players and representatives in attendance to Grangegorman and said the college was excited to host the competition in 2019.

DIT GAA is delighted to host today’s event, and we look forward to welcoming both players and fans when the finals of Gourmet Food Parlour Third Level Ladies Gaelic Football Championships take place in our home grounds of Grangegorman and Broombridge.

It’s fitting that this major competition will be hosted at our new pitches and it promises to be a festival of football.”
