Description:   

This is very successful existing master’s degree being offered part-time over three years to labour market activation students. Originally designed in response to a need in industry for a master’s degree programme that integrates energy usage, renewable technology and environmental issues in the built environment. It integrates engineering and management issues and is suitable for a wide variety of honours degree holders in science, engineering, architecture, surveying and other disciplines. It aims to build research skills in these people to address challenges posed in the green economy. The programme will enhance the present and future effectiveness of energy managers, engineers, architects, surveyors and scientists by providing an opportunity to study the theory and practice of current developments, laws, standards, technologies, management, economics and finance, associated with European energy and environmental issues. Graduates from the programme will be equipped to meet the challenges and opportunities in the green economy and built environment. They will build entrepreneurial skills and be more effective managers of energy related businesses building an in-depth awareness of energy engineering and technology and resource management under financial and environmental constraints.

Renewable energy sector, energy management in the built environment and general opportunities in the green economy including retrofitting.

Entry requirements:   

2.2 award in an Honours Bachelor Engineering or Science Degree; or equivalent and approved by the Admissions Board.
