Description

This programme is available to applicants who hold an Honours Degree with and without a background in computing (different streams for applicants with different backgrounds).

This programme will offer students an opportunity to upskill or reskill in areas highly relevant to Ireland’s emerging smart economy. Students can choose to study any of the following streams:

  • Data Analytics
  • Advanced Software Development (requires background in computing)
  • Information and Knowledge Management
  • Universal Design and Assistive Technology.

Students will achieve an award reflecting their specialism.

The programme aims to equip students with knowledge of how technologies are developed and applied as part of computing initiatives to leverage or improve ICT in organisations and wider society, impart a sound understanding of ethical and professional issues relevant to ICT and expose students to selected, leading-edge topics, methodologies and technologies within computing to significantly advance their career prospects within the IT sector.

Course Duration

This is a two year Masters programme.

Career opportunities

Graduates of the MSc in Computing programme will, depending on stream chosen, be equipped to work in the following roles: developer, business analyst, IT consultant, IT project manager, IT procurement, IT strategic management, knowledge manager

Progression

Graduates of this programme can progress to further study and/or further their career in industry.

Entry requirements

The minimum admission requirements for entry to the MSc programme are as follows:

B.Sc. (Honours 2.2. or better) in Computer Science or an allied discipline with computer science as a significant programme component. Each programme will be assessed by the Admissions and Exemptions Committee.

or

Honours degree (2.2 grade or higher) in an accepted discipline, to be assigned to a relevant stream. Assignment to streams will take place in September 2011.
