DT765 CPD Certificate in Ethical Hacking
By completing this short course you will have the skills and knowledge to test online applications for security problems and advise organisations and individuals on weaknesses in their online systems. You don’t need to know technology in detail – you just need to be curious, capable and ethical!
Participants in the programme learn about computer security, without needing a very strong background in computing. Specifically, the content covered in this course is:
- Hacking laws
- Evading Intrusion Detection Systems and Firewalls
- Hacking all major web browsers
- Scanning, enumeration
- System hacking
- Hacking wireless networks
- System applications vulnerabilities; SQL injection, buffer overflows
- Penetration testing
While the term ethical hacking may appear an oxymoron, you can be assured that it forms a legitimate area of study and professional activity in the area of computer security.
Classes take place from 2:30pm to 5:30pm on Monday afternoons, for 13 weeks between 30th January and 7th May 2012 (with a two week break for Easter).
This is a programme at Level 7 on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ), and as such, you are expected to have a qualification at Level 6 (e.g. Higher Cert) on the NFQ (not necessarily in Computing) and relevant skills in computing, ideally with programming and/or networking and/or database skills.
