Description
A foundations course in either civil or criminal law (or both). Students can take either civil or criminal foundations, or take both subjects.
Content
An overview of the basics of Irish civil or criminal law.

Print out application for part-time programme and submit to Law Department, DIT Aungier Street, Dublin 2.
Entry Requirements
This is a foundations course, suitable for applicants with no previous third-level education, or who have been away from education for a number of years.
Examinations / Assessments
Assessment is by a research project and/or completion of a portfolio of assignments.
Progression
Students who successfully complete Foundations course(s) can apply to progress onto the BA (Ord) in Law.
Learning Outcome
Students will gain the ability to recognise and apply legal principles in a variety of factual contexts.
Career Opportunities
The Foundations course(s) are popular with students who wish to work in law in a support capacity, e.g., as a legal secretary or legal assistant. A number of students have progressed onto the BA (Ord) in Law and, ultimately, onto the LL.B.
