What is Marketing?

Designed to develop the knowledge and skills requirements of an effective marketing professional, the BSc (Marketing) builds on key business understanding driven by the core principles of marketing; the critical element to success in the global economy.

Progressing from a solid foundation of business and marketing, the abilities of the student are subsequently developed through a rigorous exploration and examination of all facets of marketing theory and practice.

This creates a graduate with the knowledge, skills and competencies essential to function as a high-calibre contemporary marketing professional, both nationally and internationally.

What will I study on this programme?

Unique Features of this Degree

International study programme; Students have the opportunity to study in a Partner University in USA, Canada, Australia or Europe for one Semester. Marketing students do not pay tuition fees in the Institute abroad and costs relate to travel and living expenses only.

Choose your own marketing path; the programme offers students the choice of six contemporary options including Digital Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Business-to-Business Marketing, Sales Management, Management Science and Services Marketing.

Innovative assessment and interaction with marketing professionals; your learning involves frequent company-based research and projects with live company issues and seminars by leading marketing professionals.

Research dissertation; Students complete a major research project based on an area of personal and academic interest.

What are my career opportunities?

This Degree programme provides attractive career opportunities in the expanding marketing profession. In addition to roles in General Marketing Management, there is a range of opportunities in areas such as Brand Management, International Marketing, Advertising, Market Research, Direct Marketing, Promotion, Sales Management and Services Marketing.

What other options do I have after completion?

Students who have reached the appropriate honours standard may have access to a wide range of Masters Degrees in DIT and elsewhere in Higher Education.

Are there study abroad opportunities?

In Year 3 - Semester One in either a European, US, Canadian or Asian Institution.

(a) European Institutions as part of the ERASMUS Programme are located in Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Netherlands, France, Germany, Belgium, Austria and Czech Republic. In all cases lectures are in the English language.

(b) Institutions in Canada and USA include Ryerson University Toronto, Memorial University Newfoundland, Bishop’s University and Concordia University Quebec, Seton Hall University New Jersey, Southern Utah University, Utah, South-East Missouri State University and Florida Atlantic University
