What is Music Foundation?
The Foundation Certificate in Music is Ireland’s leading programme designed specifically for students who need to develop their performance skills and academic knowledge of music, prior to embarking on a degree programme in music. DT527 is a one-year full-time programme, which offers students an exciting opportunity to study on the same campus alongside their peers on the degree and master programmes, giving students an invaluable insight into third level music education.
What other options do I have after completion?
Students may apply for programmes in Institutions in Ireland or abroad.
What will I study on this programme?
Students study their principal instrument or voice with Ireland’s leading music lecturers, while also gaining invaluable keyboard skills in second study piano. Piano students will have an opportunity to try out another keyboard instrument, such as organ. Students may train in either the classical or traditional disciplines on their chosen instrument. Singers may choose classical voice or musical theatre studies.
Students participate in the full range of ensembles and will have the opportunity to perform at various recitals during the year.
Successful applicants will be required to pay a tuition fee and capitation fee of approximately €3,000. The free fees scheme does not apply to this programme.
