Social Care (Progression to B.A Honours)


Programme Description

This programme is designed for holders of a level 7 Diploma/BA (Ord.) in Social Care Practice or an equivalent level 7 award who have at least one year’s post qualifying experience and who wish to progress to level 8, BA (Honours).


Modules include Management in Social Care, Principles of Professional Practice, Social Policy and Social Change, Research Methods and Social Psychology.

Entry Requirements

Applicants normally have achieved a minimum of a Merit Upper on their level 7 award. In addition, applicants must be working in social care practice for a minimum of 18 hours per week.

Examinations / Assessments

Combination of assessment and end of semester exams


Further Study at Masters/PhD (Level 9 and 10).

Learning Outcome

The programme helps students develop their critical thinking and writing across a range of modules including management, research methods, principles of professional  practice, social psychology and social policy. Students also undertake a research dissertation on a topic relevant to the social field.
